I walked into Vyrao with curiosity rather than intent. The language around energy, crystals, and emotional wellness had always felt adjacent to fragrance rather than rooted in it. That changed when I visited the New York City pop-up. Yasmin Sewell greeted me herself, walked me through the entire line, and spoke candidly about how she lives with these scents rather than how they are meant to be sold. I left with two bottles. Free 00 was one of them.
At approximately $190 for 50 ml, Vyrao sits in a space that feels luxury but fair. These are designed to accompany daily life.
The Vyrao World
Vyrao was founded in 2021 by Yasmin Sewell, whose background is firmly rooted in British fashion and creative direction. Before launching Vyrao, she held influential roles at Browns, Liberty, and Farfetch, shaping taste rather than chasing trends.

Vyrao positions fragrance as part of a wider emotional and sensory framework. The brand is venture-backed and operates with real scale. It works with International Flavors & Fragrances, drawing on IFF’s research into emotional response and wellbeing. Each bottle contains a crystal as part of the brand’s ritual language. Free 00 includes a Herkimer diamond, intended to represent clarity and openness. Whether one connects to that symbolism or not, it is integral to how Vyrao defines itself.
The Perfumer
Free 00 was composed by Lyn Harris, whose career has quietly shaped the course of modern British perfumery. Trained in Grasse, Harris was educated within a classical French framework that emphasized structure, raw material literacy, and how fragrance develops on skin over time. That foundation has remained central to her work.

In 2000, she founded Miller Harris in London, years before niche perfumery became a commercial category. From the outset, her approach resisted excess. Rather than pursuing projection or overt signature effects, Harris focused on balance, proportion, and intimacy. Her perfumes were designed to unfold gradually, to sit close, and to integrate into daily life.
Across her work, Harris avoids extremes. Sweetness is tempered, woods are smoothed, and contrasts are carefully moderated. The result is a style that feels composed and resolved, guided more by restraint than by impact.
That sensibility carries directly into Free 00. The composition does not rely on dramatic shifts or standout flourishes. Instead, it is built around continuity and ease, allowing the fragrance to evolve calmly without demanding attention. It reflects a perfumer who understands scent as something lived with rather than displayed.
Within the context of Vyrao, Harris’s involvement provides a necessary anchor. Her discipline and long view of perfumery ground the brand’s wellness-driven language in technical clarity and wearability. Free 00 succeeds because it remains focused on structure and balance.
How Free 00 Smells
Free 00 opens with a gentle citrus brightness built around mandarin and lemon. As it develops, white florals emerge, primarily orange blossom and jasmine, handled with a light touch. They read clean and airy rather than overtly floral or sweet.
The base settles into vanilla and sandalwood, smooth and softly rounded, with a subtle musky warmth that keeps the fragrance close to the skin. The structure remains calm and linear, evolving slowly and evenly.
Top Notes: Lemon oil, mandarin oil, orange flower absolute
Heart Notes: Jasmine, vanilla
Base Notes: Sandalwood oil, waterlily, musk
This is a fragrance built on coherence.
The Wear
On my skin, Free 00 wears quietly and steadily. Projection remains close, with moderate longevity that settles into a soft skin scent after several hours. It feels composed and personal, the kind of perfume you reach for when you want something light, warm, and familiar.
I generally like it because it fits easily into daily life. It carries a gentle, summery ease and wears comfortably from morning through afternoon, without asking for attention.
