You know the perfumes. It’s time you knew the man who designed the bottles. Green perfumes carry an entire landscape with them: clipped hedges, damp earth, herb gardens, old stone houses, polished leather and long drives through the countryside. What Benzoin, Orris and Oakmoss Actually Smell Like One of the pleasures of owning perfume is understanding what I am smelling. I broke down some popular ingredients. I have nothing against the clean-girl era. I just miss when women smelled unmistakably of perfume. Floral, powdered, polished and deliberately composed. A fragrance had presence, and nobody expected it to smell like freshly washed skin. Gap Is Bringing Back Grass, and Suddenly It’s 1994 Again New perfume releases are coming so quickly that being new has stopped being interesting. A legendary New York nightclub, reimagined as a perfume house. I keep seeing perfume influencers with hundreds of bottles suddenly “educating” women about overbuying and going into debt for fragrance.
