Trudon Nuit Rouge: Three New Scents That Understand Fall

I spent an afternoon at The Whiff Shop in Easton, Pennsylvania, wandering between shelves the way I always do when I am not really looking for anything. The new Trudon Nuit Rouge collection was sitting together in a row of deep red bottles. There is something ceremonial about that color. I sprayed all three, walked around, and kept noticing the texture of the liquid. It feels heavier, almost oily in its concentration, which matches the mood of an extrait. I left with 45° for my own collection.

Trudon has been part of French life since 1643. Long before perfume, they made wax for cathedrals and the royal court. Their world has always been tied to smoke, atmosphere, firelight, and ritual. You smell that history in everything they do. Nuit Rouge carries that lineage into a modern, sensual direction.

Estimated reading time: 5 minutes

Below are my impressions of each perfume, with the full breakdown the way I like to archive scents.

Midnight Omen

A deep red bottle of Trudon Midnight Omen perfume with a ribbed cap and a gold label, set against a white background.

Midnight Omen is the moodiest floral in the trio. It opens with a small flash of mandarin that disappears almost as soon as it arrives. The iris and violet take over, smooth and cool at first, then warmer as saffron, leather, and sandalwood begin to shape the scent. The base is soft patchouli and musk. On skin it smells like a quiet corridor after dinner, floral but slightly shadowed.

Top notes: Mandarin, peony
Heart: Iris, violet, saffron, leather, sandalwood
Base: Patchouli, moss, amber, musk

Launch year: 2025
Perfumer: Émilie Bouge
Accords: Floral, woody, leathery, musky
Price: $340

Sillage: Moderate and steady
Longevity: About seven hours on my skin

45°

A deep red perfume bottle from the Trudon Nuit Rouge collection, labeled '45°'. The bottle features a textured cap and a gold label.

This is the one I bought. 45° is a gourmand that never becomes sweet. It opens with warm vanilla and honey, a soft glow rather than a sugary cloud. Bergamot cuts through quietly. As it settles, benzoin and amber create that Trudon signature of warmth and resin. The drydown feels like skin that has been warmed by candlelight. Comfortable, elegant, and confident. On my skin, the opening comes with a few surprises. The first seconds smell a little like a wine cork, warm and slightly woody, followed by a brief Play-Doh softness that comes from how the vanilla and resin react on contact. Both pass quickly. Once the perfume settles, it turns into a warm, quiet vanilla that feels close to the body. By the eighth hour it was still there, soft and steady, the way good extraits tend to be.

Top notes: Vanilla, honey, bergamot
Heart: Soft amber, gentle spice
Base: Benzoin, smoky resins, warm woods

Launch year: 2025
Perfumer: Yann Vasnier
Accords: Vanilla, amber, smoky, resinous
Price: $340

Sillage: Present but controlled
Longevity: All day with two sprays

Mystique

A deep red perfume bottle from the Trudon Nuit Rouge collection, featuring a textured cap and a golden label that reads 'TRUDON MYSTIQUE'.

Mystique is the richest in the lineup. The leather hits immediately, smooth and dark. Then the woods arrive one by one. Oud, patchouli, cedar, sandalwood, and a papyrus note that adds an earthy edge. Saffron softens the top and gives it a deep, golden warmth. It smells like polished wood and a quiet bar at night. Full and confident with a touch of sweetness.

Top notes: Leather, saffron
Heart: Oud, cedar, patchouli, sandalwood
Base: Papyrus, incense-like woods, warm earth

Launch year: 2025
Perfumer: Yann Vasnier
Accords: Leather, woody, spicy, smoky
Price: $340

Sillage: Strongest of the three
Longevity: Easily lasts into the night

Nuit Rouge fits the way fall feels. Everything is a little darker, a little warmer, and the air asks for perfume with weight. The red bottles are elegant in a quiet, sculptural way. The extrait concentration gives the scents a softness that still carries.

Midnight Omen is floral wrapped in shadow.
45° is warm skin and golden light.
Mystique is leather and wood that settles in and stays.

For me, 45° was the one that made sense to bring home. But each of them contributes a different side of Trudon’s long history with scent and atmosphere. If you’re drawn to perfumes that feel thoughtful and seasonal, this collection is worth trying on skin.I always love hearing how fragrances behave on different skin.

Have you tried the Nuit Rouge collection yet? Did one of them stay with you the way 45° stayed with me. Tell me how they developed on you, which one you reached for first, and whether the red bottles pulled you in the way they did for me.
