The World of Chopard: From Iconic Jewelry to Elegant Perfumes

Chopard has long been synonymous with luxury, its name evoking images of exquisite jewelry and watches. I own both a bracelet and a watch from Chopard, treasured gifts from my husband, and have always associated the brand with high-end craftsmanship. I had no idea Chopard was also in the fragrance game, and like many, I assumed their perfumes would come with a similarly steep price tag. Imagine my surprise when I stumbled upon their Happy Chopard collection and found it to be refreshingly affordable. Intrigued, I blind-bought three fragrances: Happy Chopard Bigaradia, Happy Chopard Felicia Roses, and Casmir. Here’s what I discovered

Happy Chopard Bigaradia: Bright and Uplifting

Bigaradia is an ode to orange blossom, bursting forth with notes of neroli and bergamot. It’s an invigorating scent that captures the essence of a Mediterranean garden in full bloom. Created by the renowned perfumer Dora Baghriche, known for her vibrant and refreshing compositions, Bigaradia balances brightness with a touch of sophistication. It wears beautifully on its own, offering decent longevity and a sense of refined freshness throughout the day. Alternatively, it can be layered for added depth.

Happy Chopard Felicia Roses: Playful and Layerable

Felicia Roses surprised me with its delightful fruity-floral character. The opening notes of pink grapefruit and raspberry give way to a heart of rich, blooming roses, underscored by the warmth of black currant. Crafted by Dora Baghriche as well, this fragrance is a joyful celebration of roses. I found it to be a bit singular on its own, but when layered with Bigaradia, the combination is enchanting, the citrusy brightness of Bigaradia amplifies the freshness of Felicia Roses and extends its longevity, creating a scent that is both uplifting and long-lasting.

Casmir: A Timeless Classic, Yet Not for Me

Casmir, by Michel Almairac, has been a staple in the Chopard fragrance lineup since its launch in 1992. It is an oriental fragrance with warm notes of peach, apricot, coconut, jasmine, vanilla, and sandalwood. It evokes a certain nostalgic elegance, but I must admit, it smells a bit older than I prefer. It’s richly layered and has a beautiful complexity, but it’s not quite aligned with my current taste. It may appeal more to those who enjoy deeper, more mature fragrances, but for me, it simply didn’t resonate.

The Surprise of Affordable Luxury

What truly astonished me about these fragrances was their price. I had always associated Chopard with luxury goods that come at a premium, but these perfumes are reasonably priced, an unexpected but pleasant discovery. While Casmir might not be to my taste, the value of Bigaradia and Felicia Roses, especially when layered, makes them worthwhile additions to any collection.

Chopard may be best known for its high-end jewelry and timepieces, but its foray into fragrance offers an accessible entry point to its world of luxury, a discovery that has certainly enriched my perfume collection in more ways than one.
