8 New Designer Perfumes That Punch Above Their Price Point

Designer fragrance is having a strong moment. These eight new releases come from major houses, involve some of the best perfumers working today, and still keep the 50 ml price below $200. They are not inexpensive perfumes, but they feel appropriately priced for the quality, talent and finish behind them.

Max Mara Le Parfum

A Serious Return to Fragrance

A bottle of Max Mara Le Parfum set against a backdrop of wood texture, featuring key information about the fragrance, including notes of tuberose, vanilla, sandalwood, and cedarwood.

Max Mara returns with Fabrice Pellegrin and Marie Salamagne, using two kinds of tuberose with vanilla, sandalwood and cedarwood. At $130 for 50 ml, this feels particularly well judged.

Dolce & Gabbana Your Devotion

Gourmand Without the Inflated Price

Olivier Cresp takes Devotion in a fruitier direction with Sicilian melon, orange blossom and creamy vanilla milk. Familiar enough to be easy to wear, but different enough to justify the flanker.

YSL Libre Santal Couture

A Better Kind of Flanker

A bottle of YSL Libre Santal Couture perfume on a textured wooden background, with details about its composition, price, and perfumer displayed alongside.

Anne Flipo keeps Libre’s lavender and orange blossom signature intact while bringing sandalwood forward. It is a good example of how a successful designer fragrance can evolve without completely rewriting itself.

Miu Miu Miutine Intense

Dominique Ropion Goes Darker

Blackberry liqueur, gardenia and vanilla give Miutine Intense a richer, boozier character. Having Dominique Ropion behind a $145 designer release is exactly why this category deserves more attention.

Estée Lauder Glimmer

Three Major Perfumers, $130

A bottle of Estée Lauder Glimmer fragrance displayed against a background of fresh raspberries. The bottle features a golden cap and the brand name prominently displayed. Information about the fragrance notes, perfumers, and pricing is also included.

Dominique Ropion, Anne Flipo and Jean-Marc Chaillan came together for Glimmer, built around raspberry, rose, vanilla, patchouli and amber. That perfumer lineup alone makes this one worth knowing.

Chanel Coco Mademoiselle Crush Absolu

Chanel Keeps the Formula Moving

Olivier Polge adds lychee and grapefruit to the familiar rose, jasmine and patchouli structure. It stays recognizably Coco Mademoiselle while giving the franchise a fresher reason to exist.

Givenchy L’Interdit Elixir

A Darker L’Interdit

Dominique Ropion, Anne Flipo and Meabh McCurtin push L’Interdit toward black cherry, bitter almond, rum and vanilla while keeping its white-floral core. At $167 for 50 ml, there is a lot of perfumery behind the price.

Chloé Le Nectar Parfum Intense

A bottle of Chloé Le Nectar perfume displayed among dark tonka beans, featuring a golden packaging with a ribbon, and accompanied by a description of its scent notes and details.

Chloé Gets Warmer

Romain Almairac gives the Chloé signature more depth with orange blossom, rose, tonka, amber and patchouli. It feels richer without losing the easy elegance that makes Chloé so wearable.

Designer Perfume Is Making Its Case

These are not budget fragrances, and they do not need to be. What stands out is the proportion between price and product. Major houses, established perfumers, thoughtful compositions and prices that still make sense within luxury fragrance.
